Originally a glam rock band, The Sweet surprised with their 1974 hard rock album. Right from the start of the record, on the song Set Me Free, the Brits make it clear that they can do more than glittery costumes and pop songs: drummer Mick Tucker nearly shreds his drum kit, bassist Steve Priest provides the earthy foundation, Andy Scott fires razor-sharp riffs around him, and singer Brian Conolly proves that his voice is clearly capable of more than just easily digestible chart tunes.
