With 2017's "Sleep Well Beast", The National present their new seventh studio album, the long-awaited follow-up to their 2013 Top 10 album "Trouble Will Find Me". The band recorded twelve new songs last year at Aaron Dessner's Long Pond Studio in New York City and several other locations including Los Angeles, Paris and Berlin. The record was produced by the Dessner brothers and singer Matt Berninger. In their usual dark, melodic, rock style and with Matt Berninger's unmistakable baritone voice, The National once again indulge in melancholy on the track "Sleep Well Beast". They revealed exactly what they'll sound like in 2017 back in May when they released their first single, the surprisingly aggressive "The System Only Dreams In Total Darkness". The song makes it clear: straddling the line between indie rock and post-punk revivalism, The National are setting the alternative rock bar very high again in 2017.
