Arctic Monkeys' debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not was released on 23 January 2006 in the United Kingdom. The album was produced by Jim Abbiss and recorded at Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire. The album was a critical and commercial success and debuted at number one in the UK Albums Chart. The album was certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry. The album spawned four singles, "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor", "When the Sun Goes Down", "Fake Tales of San Francisco" and "Teddy Bears". The album's title track was inspired by the book Whatever: The True Story of a Manchester Punk by Tony Fletcher. The lyrics are about the Manchester music scene. The song "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor" was the band's first single to reach number one in the UK charts. "When the Sun Goes Down" was the band's second single to reach number three in the UK charts. "Fake Tales of San Francisco" was the group's third single to reach number eight in the UK chart.
