The Jimi Hendrix Experience The Electric Ladyland album, released in 1968, is widely regarded as one of the best rock albums of all time. The album was recorded in several different studios and features a wide range of styles and sounds, from the hard rock of "All Along the Watchtower" to the psychedelic ballad "The Wind Cries Mary". Hendrix was known for his innovative guitar playing, and his unique style is on full display on Electric Ladyland, from the brisk solos in "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" to the atmospheric effects in "1983... (A Merman I Should Turn to Be)". The album was also one of the first to make extensive use of stereo effects, resulting in an album that still sounds fresh and innovative 50 years after its release.
