In December 1961, Polydor released the single My Bonnie by Tony Sheridan & The Beat Brothers in Germany. The single charted a respectable 32nd in the German charts, so it was quickly decided to follow it up with an album in January 1962. The Beat Brothers were not brothers, however, but John, Paul, George and Pete, better known as The Beatles.
