Insurgentes is the debut solo album by Steven Wilson , released on 3 November 2008. The album was recorded between February and September 2008 at Wilson's home studio No Man's Land in London. Wilson described the album as "a very personal and introspective album, written and recorded as a result of a broken relationship". Music critics have praised the album. On Metacritic, which assigns a standard rating out of 100 to reviews by mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 83, indicating "universal acclaim". Eduardo Rivadavia of AllMusic gave the album 4.5 stars out of five, stating, "The album is of very high quality: an album that is as challenging as it is rewarding, one that will likely confuse as well as delight many listeners. But for those who take the time to immerse themselves in its dark, twisted beauty, Insurgentes is nothing short of a masterpiece."
