Out of Silence: Steve Hackett with a new album In 2021, British singer-songwriter and musician and former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett returns with a new album "Surrender Of Silence". Like its acoustic predecessor, which was only released in January, it was recorded during Lockdown, but: "The cobwebs of Lockdown are swept away in one fell swoop here," says Hackett. And that's thanks to some strong guests, in addition to the master himself: "With a monstrous rhythm section of Jonas Reingold, Craig Blundell, Nick D'Virgilio and Phil Ehart, along with Rob Townsend's soaring sax and bass clarinet, Nad Sylvan, Amanda Lehmann and myself on vocals, Roger King's gritty, powerful organ and my guitar, we throw ourselves full on into a wild release of energy," Hackett continues. They recorded eleven songs together for the album "Surrender Of Silence". Once again, Roger King and Steve's wife Joanna "Jo" Lehmann helped with the songwriting. The result is a musical journey that the musician describes as follows. We can't travel everywhere yet, but this album travels all over the world, from the Far East to Africa, with the gorgeous vocals of Amanda plus Lorelei and Durga McBroom, the extraordinary dutar of Ubaidulloev Sodikhorn, and the exotic tar of Malik Mansur... all connected by Roger's beautiful orchestral textures, underscored by Christine Townsend's sublime violin and viola."
