Santana: Borboletta version on vinyl LP in Remastered edition. This particular edition was published in Germany in publishing company Speakers Corner Records in cooperation with Columbia on 24. October 2014.
After scorching live shows and subversive forays into the tremors of Woodstock feel, Santana and the band settle into a quiet studio ground for their sixth album. It's no coincidence that a purist faction of fans sensed a soft landing in a garden of cultivated sounds rather than a hard takeoff into wild terrain under the wings of a blue-hued butterfly cover. But first things first: "Canto De Los Flores," tuned to semi-naturalistic sounds, swings in the dotted figures of Rhodes' piano over multicultural drum waves. Seeming to lend itself to a compressive dramaturgy, "Live Is Anew" is a punchy ballad arrangement, followed by an emotionally wobbly rock style ("Give And Take"). At home with Santana, a creamy, epically wide and silky vibrating guitar cocktail ("Promise Of A Fisherman") nourishes and refreshes. At the latest, you now sympathize with the boys of nature who, in an abundance of well-being, have gone on an eternal hunt for the butterfly called "Borboletta". Now you can add this rare specimen to your butterfly collection, or better yet, to your plate. Recording: 1974 Glen Kolotkin Production: Carlos Santana, Michael Shrieve & Tom Coster Review: "A first class album that, like all Speakers Corner releases, comes in a 180g pressing with excellent mastering."
