So much has been said and written about Miles Davis' "Kind Of Blue" that it is virtually impossible to summarize all the necessary information in the scope of this essay. We could only give some facts (the world's best-selling jazz album of all time). We could try to explain why it is the greatest jazz album of all time, but the music will do that for you. As Bill Evans stated in the original liner notes, the band did not play any of these songs before recording. Miles Davis laid down the themes and the band improvised before making the tape. The end result was fragile and wondrous. Recorded in two sessions in 1959, the album "Kind Of Blue" worked on many different levels and will continue to do so for many years to come.
A special edition double LP at 45 rpm in a jewel case with a large format booklet with lyrics.
If the question of the most famous jazz album of all time came up on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire", this 1959 Miles Davis album is a sure candidate. Entire books have been written about Kind Of Blue, and what other album exists in so many editions?
The band hadn't played a single song before Davis invited them into the studio while recording. Maybe jazz heavyweights like John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Cannonball Adderly, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb didn't even need to, because Kind Of Blue has become a classic in its own right. Davis, on the other hand, stayed true to his reputation as an eccentric and branded the album a failure.
Mobile Fidelity had announced the title long ago, but the release had to be postponed again and again because the licensor Columbia Records, now part of Sony Music, was unable to get the right tape. Apparently there are dozens of copies of the cassette. Once Shawn R. Britton and Rob LoVerde had the right master in hand, they set to work together. They used a newly upgraded DSD system in Sebastopol, California, to process everything.
Sonically, the album now has a grace and convincing definition of every single note that has never been heard before. There's an analogue tape hiss as well as a presence from the musicians that previous releases simply didn't achieve. Review
"The overall dynamics are simply stunning for a 1959 recording (minimal tape hiss). The gorgeous eight-page photographic booklet, including the original liner notes (by Bill Evans), and the flawless pressing ... along with the fantastic music, make this the perfect jazz LP of the year." (Audio, January 2016)
"Kind Of Blue 's MFSL version is the definitive pressing that should put an end to all comparative discussions and put to rest the disappointing-sounding 50th anniversary edition of the record, but only on ambitious systems will its full sonic splendor be revealed."

Miles Davis před natáčením pásky položil témata a kapela improvizovala.
O Kind Of Blue byly napsány celé knihy a které jiné album existuje v tolika vydáních?
Kapela neodehrála jedinou skladbu, než ji Davis při nahrávání pozval do studia. Možná to těžké jazzové váhy jako John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Cannonball Adderly, Paul Chambers a Jimmy Cobb ani nepotřebovaly, protože Kind Of Blue se stalo klasikou samo o sobě. Davis naproti tomu zůstal věrný své pověsti excentrika a album označil za neúspěch.
Společnost Mobile Fidelity tento titul ohlásila už dávno, ale vydání se muselo znovu a znovu odkládat, protože poskytovatel licence Columbia Records, nyní součást Sony Music, nebyl schopen sehnat tu správnou kazetu. Podle všeho existují desítky kopií kazet. Když měli Shawn R. Britton a Rob LoVerde v ruce správný master, pustili se společně do práce. Využili nově modernizovaný DSD systém v kalifornském Sebastopolu, aby bylo možné vše zpracovat.
Po zvukové stránce má nyní album půvab a přesvědčivou definici každé jednotlivé noty, jakou dosud nikdo neslyšel. Je tu analogové sykavky pásku a zároveň přítomnost hudebníků, které předchozí vydání prostě nedosahovala. Recenze
"Celková dynamika je na nahrávku z roku 1959 prostě ohromující (minimální sykavky pásku). Nádherný osmistránkový fotografický booklet včetně původních poznámek (Bill Evans) a bezchybný výlisek ... spolu s fantastickou hudbou dělají z této desky dokonalé jazzové LP roku." (Audio, leden 2016)
"Kind Of Blue ve verzi MFSL je definitivním vylisováním, které by mělo ukončit všechny srovnávací diskuse a dát zapomenout na neuspokojivě znějící vydání k 50. výročí desky, ale teprve na ambiciózních systémech odhalí její plnou zvukovou nádheru." (MINT, leden 2016)
