The Ramones is the eponymous debut studio album by American punk rock band The Ramones , released on April 23, 1976 by Sire Records. The album was produced by Craig Leon. The Ramones was recorded in just two weeks on a budget of $6,400. The album cover, which features the band members dressed in black and white clothing, was designed by art director Arturo Vega. The album's songs deal with alienation, boredom and teenage frustration and are set to an energetic and fast-paced punk rock soundtrack. The album's opening song, "Blitzkrieg Bop", is one of the band's most famous tracks and is often cited as one of the best punk rock songs of all time. The Ramones was well received by critics and helped popularize punk rock in the United States. The album ranked 26th on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
