Newly remastered and expanded 2CD edition of Procol Harum's 1968 debut album with 15 bonus tracks, 7 previously unreleased and 2 available on CD for the first time. Includes previously unreleased BBC recordings from 1967. Remastered from the original master tapes. Completely redesigned cover art and new liner notes by Henry Scott-Irvine The album, released in January 1968, followed the band's huge international success with their debut single "A Whiter Shade of Pale" and the follow-up single "Homburg". "Procol Harum" is one of the best albums from this period and features excellent songwriting by Gary Brooker and Keith Reid, as well as the skill of musicians Gary Brooker (vocals, piano), Robin Trower (solo guitar), David Knights (bass), B. J. Wilson (drums) and Matthew Fisher (Hammond organ). The result was a collection of songs that was groundbreaking in its uniqueness, despite producer Denny Cordell's insistence that the mix be monophonic. Review: "PROCOL HARUM's debut (1968) contains B-sides, alternate (stereo) mixes and BBC sessions on two CDs in addition to the track "Whiter Shade Of Pale", which was not available on the original."
