The Moody Blues are an English rock band formed in Birmingham in 1964, initially emerging as a rhythm and blues-based group. They underwent a stylistic shift in the late 1960s to become one of the leading bands of the progressive rock era. The core members of the band included Justin Hayward (guitar, vocals), John Lodge (bass guitar, vocals), Mike Pinder (keyboards, vocals), Ray Thomas (flute, vocals), and Graeme Edge (drums). They gained prominence with their second album, "Days of Future Passed" (1967), which fused rock with classical music and is regarded as one of the first successful concept albums.
