Once is the third studio album by Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish , released in 2004. The album was produced by Tuomas Holopainen and Nightwish , mixed by Mikko Karmila. Once is a concept album about the power of the heart and its ability to connect people. The album was a commercial success, reaching number one in eleven countries and selling over a million copies. The first single from the album, "Nemo", reached number one in Finland and Germany and number two in Italy. The album's title track was used as the official theme song of the 2004 Athens Olympics. Nightwish embarked on a world tour in support of the album, playing more than 200 concerts in thirty-six countries. The album Once is widely regarded as Nightwish's best album, having been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance and voted Best Album of the Year by readers of Metal Hammer magazine.
