Legendary British composer and multi-talented musician Mike Oldfield is finally making his presence known after six long years. At the beginning of March, he will release a brand new studio album featuring his first material since 2008, when the 60-year-old multi-instrumentalist released "Music Of The Spheres"... Mike Oldfield's twenty-fifth studio album is entitled "Man On The Rocks" and features eleven new original songs. It will be a very personal record, which blends several aspects that influenced the British music magician during the recording process. The core of the songs were recorded at Village Studios in Los Angeles and Oldfield participated via Skype, while the artist recorded part of the record in his studio in the Bahamas. The legendary British producer Stephen Lipson, who was also behind the albums of Annie Lennox, Pet Shop Boys, Cher and Frankie Goes To Hollywood, was in charge of the entire production.The album also featured the participation of star musicians such as bassist Leland Sklar (Phil Collins, Crosby, Stills & Nash, James Taylor), drummer John Robinson (Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton, Daft Punk) and vocalist Luke Spiller from the band Struts. "It was a great pleasure to record 'Man On The Rocks' with such a dedicated team of musicians. For a long time, I thought I would never record anything new again," says Oldfield, whose main impetus for the new album was his performance at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London... "Man On The Rocks" will be available in several formats. In addition to the basic single-disc edition, which will contain eleven songs as well as a limited color double vinyl, a deluxe edition will also be available. The latter will consist of two discs, the bonus one will offer all the new songs in their instrumental forms. "Sailing" has been chosen as the pilot single from the new album and will be available for radio play very soon. Already this song confirms that Mike Oldfield is back in really great shape...
