Crises is an album by Mike Oldfield , released in 1983. It is a concept album about the Cold War on which Oldfield plays all the instruments. The album was a critical and commercial failure at the time of its release, but has since been re-evaluated and is now considered a classic. The album's opening track, "Taurus II", is a twenty-minute epic about the nuclear arms race. The track was inspired by the Soviet false nuclear alarm incident of 1983. Other tracks on the album include "Family Man", "Shine", "Moonlight Shadow" and "Foreign Affair".
