Manu Chao: Clandestino version on vinyl 2LP/CD in Standard edition. This particular edition was published in France in publishing company Because Music in cooperation with Radio Bemba on 16. September 2022.

On first listen, a record for the intrusive atmosphere from the next room, but on the second listen a dark work. It's built from minimal Latin and roots loops, acoustic guitar and the voice of Manu Chao, who some may still remember as the lead singer of French-Spanish agitpop band Mano Negra. On his hard drive, Miguel Matamoros, Bob Marley and Subcomandante Marcos meet for a bag of summer weed. But the mood changes when their heads become heavy with the misery of their nations. RT @Normal: Manu Chao is gallant, singing about the displaced and exploited like a beautiful woman he wants to ask to dance. For those who don't know Spanish, here are the first lines from the title track: ªI'm alone with my pain / Alone goes my punishment / Escape is my destiny / Fool the law / Lost in the heart / Of the great city of Babylon / They call me Clandestino / Because I have no papers". "Africano clandestino / Marijuana illegal" is the chorus, and into the mix of Mexican ballad and Cuban son, comes the sound of the siren of one of those toys that illegal African immigrants sell on Spanish and French beaches. In general, Chao sprinkles samples like snippets of rebel pamphlets among his riddims: from Gibraltar to Rio, and when it comes to lost love, sometimes from an answering machine.
