King Crimson's In The Wake Of Poseidon, released in 1970, is a masterpiece of progressive rock. The album is the follow-up to the critically acclaimed debut album In The Court Of The Crimson King and features the same line-up of Robert Fripp on guitar, Greg Lake on bass and vocals, Ian McDonald on winds and keyboards and Michael Giles on drums. The album is a concept album based on the Greek legend of the god Poseidon. The album opens with the epic track "The Court Of The Crimson King", which is a reworking of a song from the band's debut album. The song is a classic of progressive rock and is one of the most famous songs in King Crimson's catalogue. The album contains several other classic prog rock tracks, including "Pictures Of A City", "In The Wake Of Poseidon" and "The Devil's Triangle". The album is a masterful blend of prog rock, jazz and classical music and is one of the most influential prog rock albums of all time. Every fan of progressive rock music must listen to it.
