DAVID GILMOUR released his second solo album "About Face" in 1984. Recorded with Jeff Pprcar on drums, Pino Palladino on bass and Anne Dudley on synthesizer, "About Face" proved to be much catchier than his first solo album. The songs had a lot more pop influences than the titles one was used to from him and Pink Floyd. The title track "Blue Light" even became a minor hit. Pete Townshend also contributed to the album, writing "Love On The Air" and probably the rockiest song on the album, "All Lovers Are Deranged". Of course, you will often find Gilmour's signature guitar playing, so appreciated and loved by Pink Floyd. The particularly beautiful title track "Murder" is a good example of this. It starts with gentle acoustic tones and ends with a beautiful fireworks display backed by Steve Winwood's organ playing. About Face" is a fine and perfectly arranged rock album that thrills from start to finish. On the occasion of GILMOUR's recently released new album "On An Island" and the long-awaited release of Pink Floyd's "PULSE" DVD, this album is being re-released - remastered by legendary Pink Floyd producer James Gutherie.
