Following the release of Boys Keep Swingin' on a limited edition picture disc, Parlophone is now celebrating the 40th anniversary of the release of the single D. J. . Now the track is also being released on a seven-inch picture disc. It was originally released on 29 June 1979 as the second and final single from the Lodger album and was a direct follow-up to Boys Keep Swinging in the UK. Instead, Yassassin was released in the Netherlands and Turkey and Look Back In Anger was released in the US. On the A side of the picture disc D. J. is a previously unreleased single cut of the song with Tony Visconti's 2017 mix of Lodger, which is also included in the A New Career In A New Town box set. The previously unreleased version of Boys Keep Swinging on side AA was recorded exclusively for Kenny Everett's video show. This was recorded by Tony Visconti on 9 April 1979 in Soho, London and featured Sean Mayes on keyboards, Tony Visconti on bass, Simon House on violin, Andy Duncan on drums and Brian Robertson (Thin Lizzy) and Ricky Hitchcock on guitars. The following day, a video of Kenny Everett's show was recorded and broadcast on April 23, 1979.
