The album was recorded in a prison cell and was Burzum's only released album until 2009, when Vikernes was released from prison. The album was re-released in 2007 with a bonus track. Burzum / Aske is a black metal album and is considered a classic in the black metal genre. The album is dark and atmospheric, it is a raw and primal record.
