2019 saw the release of the debut album Black Pumas by the Austin blues-rock band of the same name. The album was produced by Grammy winner Adrian Quesada (Grupo Fantasma, Brownout, Ocote Soul Sounds) and features guest appearances by Leon Bridges, La Marisoul and Kam Franklin. Black Pumas is a blend of blues, soul and rock with lyrics that touch on social and political issues. The album was critically praised, with Rolling Stone magazine calling it a "groundbreaking debut album".
