Arcade Fire: Funeral version on vinyl LP in Standard edition. This particular edition was published in Europe in publishing company Sony Music in cooperation with Rough Trade on 22. December 2017.
It must be something special when rock music greats like David Bowie, Eric Clapton and David Byrne crowd the sold-out Bowery Ballroom along with 600 other New York hip-hoppers. After a great performance at the Mercury Lounge during the CMJ festival, the Canadian band is on a roll. Arcade Fire's shows are a very special experience and their debut album "Funeral" is second to none! Already, pigeon holes are opening and closing, comparisons are being made without capturing the esprit of the band. It's hard to believe, but it's true: after half of the music world wanted to sign Arcade Fire, Geoff Travis of Rough Trade Records has done it again.The debut album "Funeral" was selected by Rolling Stone as one of the 50 best albums of 2004 ("...an exceptional debut...") and even the New York Times is unusually euphoric: "...a brilliant, oblique Montreal septet...". Review by C. Böhm in Audio magazine 4/05: "Pop CD of the month." F. Sawatzki in Musikexpress 4/05: "Record of the month. When "Funeral" was released in the US and Canada last year, there was a suspiciously big buzz around it, and Arcade Fire lured a club of older pop luminaries (from David Bowie to David Byrne) to New York's Bowery Ballroom for a screening. We don't know what they saw and heard there; the band's live shows are preceded by a reputation for ecstatic events, and on record they laid down a riotous feast of orchestral pop, all of it peppered with textures of music that run through their heads without their being able or willing to name them."
