Black Pumas is an American psychedelic soul band based in Austin, Texas, formed in 2017. The group consists of Eric Burton (vocals) and Adrian Quesada (guitar). They quickly gained recognition for their energetic live performances and a seamless blend of soul, funk, and R&B. Their self-titled debut album, "Black Pumas," was released in June 2019 to critical acclaim. It earned them a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist at the 2020 Grammy Awards, as well as additional nominations for their track "Colors." The band's sound is characterized by Burton's emotive vocal delivery and Quesada's production and guitar work, which draw on his experience as a member of the Latin funk orchestra Grupo Fantasma.
