One of his best: 'On Air' re-released Although 'On Air' may be Alan Parsons' least known album, it is considered by connoisseurs to be one of his best. To mark its 25th anniversary, the British musician, sound engineer and producer is reissuing the concept album on CD and LP in 2021. "On Air" is Alan Parsons' second solo album following the break-up of the Alan Parsons Project. Originally released in 1996, the concept album revolves around the history of aeronautical research. The theme of "Too Close To The Sun" is an escape from the Minotaur's labyrinth. "Brother Up In Heaven" is an emotional song about the death of APP guitarist Ian Bairnson's cousin. "One Day To Fly" is about Leonardo da Vinci's mission to invent a flying machine. Musically, this album is somewhat different from its predecessor "Try Anything Once" and the Alan Parsons Project albums. Instead of funky rhythms, the progressive rock sound has mellowed. Some of the stars of the scene are featured as vocalists on the On Air show: Christopher Cross, Eric Stewart, Neil Lockwood, Steve Overland and Graham Dye.
