The Style Council

The Style Council

British Sophisti-Pop Group

The Style Council was a British band formed in 1983 by Paul Weller, the former frontman of The Jam, and keyboardist Mick Talbot. The band marked a stylistic shift for Weller, who moved away from the punk and new wave influences of The Jam towards a more soulful, R&B, and jazz-influenced sound. The Style Council was known for its socially conscious lyrics and its incorporation of a variety of musical styles, including elements of pop, funk, and even house music in their later work.
