Johannes Brahms was a German composer and pianist of the Romantic period, born on May 7, 1833, in Hamburg and died on April 3, 1897, in Vienna. He is often grouped with Johann Sebastian Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven as one of the "Three Bs" for his significant contribution to classical music. Brahms's career was marked by both traditionalism and innovation. His works are deeply rooted in the structures and compositional techniques of the Classical masters. While he did not write operas, he was prolific in many other forms, including chamber music, symphonies, piano works, and choral compositions.
