Bo Diddley was a highly influential American singer, guitarist, and songwriter who played a pivotal role in the transition from blues to rock and roll. Born as Ellas McDaniel on December 30, 1928, in McComb, Mississippi, he adopted the stage name Bo Diddley and became known for his distinctive rhythmic style that incorporated African rhythms and a signature beat that would go on to influence many artists. His career took off after signing with Chess Records, and his self-titled debut album "Bo Diddley" was released in 1958.
