J.J. Cale

J.J. Cale

Influential American Singer-Songwriter and Guitarist

J.J. Cale was an American singer-songwriter and musician who was a key figure in the development of the Tulsa Sound, a loose genre drawing on blues, rockabilly, country, and jazz influences. Born on December 5, 1938, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Cale crafted a laid-back style of music that would greatly influence the sound of American rock and blues music. His career took off after Eric Clapton covered his song "After Midnight" in 1970, bringing Cale significant attention. Following this success, he released his debut album "Naturally" in 1972, which included hits like "Call Me the Breeze," later covered by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
