Peter Baumann

German electronic music pioneer

Peter Baumann is a German musician best known for his work with the pioneering electronic group Tangerine Dream. He joined the band in 1971 and was an integral part of their most influential period, contributing to classic albums such as "Phaedra" (1974) and "Rubycon" (1975). Baumann's tenure with Tangerine Dream lasted until 1977, after which he embarked on a solo career. His solo works include the albums "Romance 76" and "Trans Harmonic Nights," which further explored the electronic and ambient sounds he had become known for. In addition to his musical career, Baumann also established a record label, Private Music, which focused on electronic and new age artists. After a long hiatus from music, he returned with a new album titled "Machines Of Desire" in 2016, demonstrating his enduring passion for electronic music composition and production.
