The Nationals Frontman and Baritone Singer-Songwriter

Matt Berninger is an American musician best known as the lead vocalist of the indie rock band The National. Born on February 13, 1971, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Berninger's baritone voice has become a distinctive feature of The National's sound. The band, formed in 1999, gained critical acclaim with albums such as "Alligator" (2005), "Boxer" (2007), and "High Violet" (2010). They have won a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album for their 2017 release "Sleep Well Beast." In addition to his work with The National, Matt Berninger has embarked on solo projects and collaborations. He released his debut solo album "Serpentine Prison" in October 2020, which was produced by the famed multi-instrumentalist and producer Booker T. Jones.
