Ladislav Slovák was a Slovak conductor, known for his interpretations of the works of Antonín Dvořák and Dmitri Shostakovich among others. Born on November 11, 1919, in Slovakia, he had a significant impact on the classical music scene, particularly within Eastern Europe. Slovák's career was closely associated with the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, where he served as its chief conductor from 1961 to 1981. His tenure with the orchestra led to numerous recordings and international acclaim.
