German Baroque Composer and Opera Writer

Carl Heinrich Graun was an 18th-century German composer and tenor who served as a significant figure in the musical life of his time, particularly during the reign of Frederick the Great of Prussia. Born on May 7, 1704, in Wahrenbrück, Graun began his career as a singer and later transitioned into composition. He became the Kapellmeister at the court of Frederick II in Berlin, where he composed primarily operas and sacred music.
