Bernhard Klapprott

German Harpsichordist and Conductor

Bernhard Klapprott is a German harpsichordist, organist, and conductor, particularly known for his expertise in early music. He studied musicology, organ, harpsichord, and conducting in Berlin and Amsterdam. Klapprott has been involved with several ensembles dedicated to the performance of Baroque music on period instruments. He is a founding member of the ensemble Cantus Cölln, which specializes in the vocal music of the 17th century. Additionally, he has served as a professor at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar, where he teaches harpsichord and performance practice. Throughout his career, Klapprott has made numerous recordings that reflect his deep engagement with historical performance practices and his dedication to bringing early music to contemporary audiences.
