Soviet-Armenian Composer and Conductor

Aram Khachaturian was a Soviet Armenian composer and conductor, renowned for his contributions to classical music in the 20th century. Born on June 6, 1903, in Tbilisi, Georgia, which was then part of the Russian Empire, Khachaturian became one of the leading Soviet composers. He is best known for his ballet music—most notably "Gayane," which includes the famous "Sabre Dance," and "Spartacus," which has been used extensively in film and television.
