Venom: Welcome To Hell CLR version on vinyl LP in colored edition. This particular edition was published in United Kingdom in publishing company BMG in cooperation with Sanctuary and Neat Records on 24. September 2021.

In 1981 they released their debut album Welcome To Hell, which was the sonic equivalent of rubbing salt into a gaping wound. What many people don't realise is that the album was actually nothing more than a collection of demos! It wasn't a proper album, and that's why there's such a big difference in sound quality between 'Welcome To Hell' and the subsequent 'Black Metal' album."

In a strange way, the demo quality of the album probably helped boost Venom's growing popularity as the uncrowned kings of the fast-growing metal underground.

"Neat Records was very surprised at how well the single sold and asked me if we had any more tracks. "Plenty," I said, so Neat asked us if we would record everything we had so they could hear all our songs. We went back to the studio and recorded what we thought were demos. Then Neat Records said, "You know, we could put a cover on it and release it as an album." And so we decided to do that. We thought, "Great idea. Let's go back and re-record the songs properly, with more care and attention and so on, and then we'll make a proper record out of it." That's not how Neat saw it. They literally meant that they wanted to release our demos with all the mistakes as the first album!"

Despite the album's lack of production values, it secured Venom a solid position in the metal scene. The fearsome trio were no longer just another band for the masses - they had substance and real potential. Their roar was ferocious, unnerving and utterly biting.

To mark the 40th anniversary, a limited vinyl edition of Splatter is being released with embossed cover art, a reproduction of the original lyric bag and poster.
