Norwegian black metal band

Darkthrone is a highly influential Norwegian black metal band formed in 1986 by guitarist Ivar Enger, bassist Dag Nilsen, and drummer Gylve Nagell, who later adopted the stage name Fenriz. Initially starting as a death metal band, they shifted towards a black metal style with their second album "A Blaze in the Northern Sky," released in 1992. This album marked a significant change in their musical direction and is often credited with helping to define the Norwegian black metal sound. The follow-up album, "Under a Funeral Moon," came out in 1993 and continued to solidify their raw and grim aesthetic.
