The horn has always been central to his work as a soloist, bandleader, arranger and teacher. One of his pupils was Johannes Amon, who carried his predilection for the horn into his own compositions, inspiring Johann Michael Mettenleiter. The combination with flute and strings that Compagnia di Punto presents on its new CD in three pieces from the milieu of its namesake is particularly appealing.
