The devil plays a surprisingly prominent role in the history of the blues, which is often called "the devil's music." Blues musicians have always sung about the devil and been punished for it. And if you believe the rumours, some of them even made a pact with Satan - especially with the legend par excellence among blues musicians: Robert Johnson. At the same time, musicians took advantage of the devil's bad reputation, just as later satanic rock and metal bands did. Controversy sells, and that was as true at the birth of the blues as it is today. The 21 tracks on the compilation "The Devil And The Blues" date from the 1920s to the present, but all showcase the driving power, pulsating groove and electrifying solos that have always defined the spirit of the blues and continue to do so.
