Talmy used 12 microphones just for the drums - four were common at the time. They were placed close to the amplifiers ("close-miking"), which produced a denser sound. Guitar riffs were the focus of many recordings. According to Talmy, the role of the music producer in the 1990s remained much the same as in the 1960s; it was and is all about "wrapping the performer's performance in the best possible framework". He has helped The Who, The Kinks and Easybeats, among others, to do this. Among them are Liz Shelley, Margo & The Marvettes, Colette & The Bandits and many more. Alec Palao compiled and wrote the liner notes.
