In her moving autobiography "I Sang to Survive", the poignant Judith Schneiderman tells how she sang to survive as a girl in a concentration camp. She later sang these songs from an early age to her daughter, the opera singer Helene Schneiderman. When she embarked on a career far from home, in Germany of all places, she was accompanied by a cassette tape of her mother's singing, which served as an audio link to her family.
