On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of man's first landing on the moon on July 20, 1969, the Bear Family brings you this edition of Moon-O-Rama! Filled with musical rarities and historical audio documents, the book focuses on the origins, the idea of landing on the moon, John F. Kennedy's announcement, and the music industry's reaction. The 34 tracks, some of which are extremely difficult to find, reflect an adventurous, sometimes naive approach to the subject of the moon landing against the backdrop of the rivalry between the US and the then USSR from the 1950s onwards! Also included are interesting audio documents, such as the September 1962 statement by US President John F. Kennedy and the words of astronaut Neil Armstrong on July 20, 1969, which have become famous! There are extremely rare recordings to listen to, such as Rocket To The Moon by Johnny Kaye from Belgium or Race To Space by Glenn Willings! There are also well-known songs that have taken the theme in a somewhat humorous way, such as Anita O'Day's Fly Me To The Moon and The Rocket Man with a Russian melody by the Spotnicks! Plus some orchestral recordings that evoke the feeling of flying to the moon, such as Les Baxter's orchestra with Lunar Rhapsody! The First Man on the Moon To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first man landing on the moon, we have created our own compilation. And while some conspiracy theorists doubt it, the subject is just too beautiful and exciting. Carefully collected here are special songs from the run-up to the moon landing during the Cold War, from the 1950s to the early 1960s.
