For the uninformed: the Bristol/London based Rocket Recordings label has been releasing psychedelic music since its inception in 1998. "Crystallized" is a double LP full of exclusive tracks from the label's eclectic mix of bands. Some are established Rocket bands, others are good friends and some you may never have heard of. The controlled noise opener Teeth Of The Sea is followed by the "aggro beat" of Blood Sport, who sound like The Heat meets Blurt and the Hookworms. London's Vision Fortune launch into drone pop before the B-side kicks off with a psychedelic track from space ravers Gnod. Then come the relatively unknown Swedes Uran and their compatriots Hills. They bring the fuzzy psych rock again before side B finishes with Rollbars and side C fires all guns blazing with $hit&$hine. The Cherrystones are reminiscent of early Achim Reichel with their psychedelic groove. On side D, Italian favourites The Lay Llamas kick off, closely followed by Goat, and Anthroprophh - Paul Allen of The Heads with backing band The Big Naturals - rounds things off.
