6 Concertos from the famous Dresden collection In the first two-thirds of the 18th century it was a particular good fortune that a substantial part of the repertoire of instrumental music in use has survived to the present day in the form of some 1,800 musical manuscripts. The collections of the so-called 'Schranzko II' are today found in the rich music collection of the Saxon State Library - State and University Library in Dresden (SLUB); this treasure trove contains many nameless specimens which - conceived in the creative fervour - do not reveal their author. The material was arranged as early as the 18th century, but with an inconsistency that seems strange to us today: the famous lie here alongside the nameless, but there is hardly anything truly weak among them.
