No Line On The Horizon, their twelfth studio album, comes five years after How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, which sold more than 9 million copies and won the band eight Grammy Awards in the US. Recording began last year in Fez, Morocco, continued in studios in Dublin, New York and was completed at Olympic Studios in London.
Production was handled by long-time collaborators Brian Eno and Danny Lanois, with help from Steve Lillywhite.
The first single was the track "Get On Your Boots". A powerful rock track with a brilliant bass line and distinctive vocals, it is sure to become one of the year's most important songs and U2 are particularly looking forward to performing it live during the tour. The song makes it clear that the era of dance and other experiments is definitely forgotten and that the album will be a confirmation of the return to great rock records with honest rock'n'roll roots. U2 will perform the track live for the first time at this year's Brit Awards ceremony, which takes place on 18 February at Earls Court in London. The minimalist cover art is by Japanese artist and photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto.
