THE ROLLING STONES ANNOUNCE THEIR RETURN TO THE BLUES WITH A NEW ALBUM!'BLUE & LONESOME' OUT 2. On December 2, 2016, The Rolling Stones release 'Blue & Lonesome', their first studio album in over a decade. Recorded in three days in London, England, 'Blue & Lonesome' is a return to the band's roots and the passion for the blues that has always been in the heart and soul of The Rolling Stones.Available in a variety of formats, 'Blue & Lonesome' will be released on December 2 via Polydor Records / Universal. The album was produced by Don Was and The Glimmer Twins and is available to pre-order from 6 December at rollingstones.com.The album was recorded in just three days last December at British Grove Studios in West London, just a short drive from Richmond and Eel Pie Island, where the Stones started out as a young blues band playing around pubs and clubs.Their approach to the album was spontaneous - everything was played live in the studio without overdubbing. The band - Mick Jagger (vocals & harmonica), Keith Richards (guitar), Charlie Watts (drums) and Ronnie Wood (guitar) - were joined by their long-time touring mates Darryl Jones (bass guitar), Chuck Leavell (keyboards) and Matt Clifford (keyboards), and two of the twelve tracks featured guest appearances by old friend Eric Clapton, who happened to be in the studio next door recording his own album. On 'Blue & Lonesome', the Rolling Stones pay homage to their blues origins, playing the music of Jimmy Reed, Willie Dixon, Eddie Taylor, Little Walter and Howlin' Wolf - artists whose songs feature on this album. These songs are - Just Your Fool, Commit A Crime, Blue and Lonesome, All Of Your Love, I Gotta Go, Everybody Knows About My Good Thing, Ride 'Em On Down, Hate To See You Go, Hoo Doo Blues, Little Rain, Just Like I Treat You, I Can't Quit You Baby. "This album is a clear testament to the purity of their love of music and its composition, and the blues is the source of everything the Stones do." Don Was, co-producer of 'Blue & Lonesome'
Album spans genres Rock, Blues, Electric Blues and Chicago Blues.
