The John Coltrane Quartet: Crescent version on vinyl LP in Standard edition. This particular edition was published in USA in publishing company Impulse! in cooperation with Verve Records and UMe on 28. January 2022.

V roce 1964 strávil John Coltrane v nahrávacím studiu nejméně času za celou svou sólovou kariéru. Teprve 27. dubna se Trane spolu s McCoyem Tynerem, Jimmym Garrisonem a Elvinem Jonesem odebral do známého prostředí studia Rudyho Van Geldera v Englewood Cliffs, aby začal pracovat na albu, které dostalo název "Crescent".

Nahráli všechny skladby, které se na Crescentu objevují, spolu s "Songs Of Praise", ale ne finální verze pěti skladeb alba. Z tohoto prvního dne nahrávání se do konečné verze dostaly skladby "Lonnie's Lament", "The Drum Thing" a "Wise One". První dvě z těchto tří skladeb tvoří celou druhou stranu alba a v "Lonnie's Lament" Coltrane vůbec nesóluje, místo toho je zde dlouhé Garrisonovo basové sólo.
