Songs in the Key of Life reached number one on the US charts in 1976 and stayed there for the next 13 weeks. The album dates from Wonder's creative heyday and was offered as a double album with a bonus EP to accommodate the large number of songs. Essentially, you get two albums: one socially critical and spiritual and the other full of love songs. A mix that earned him Grammys in four categories that year: as "Album of the Year", for "Best Male Pop Vocal Performance" and "Best Male R&B Vocal Performance", as well as "Producer of the Year". Stevie Wonder's best-selling album is still considered his best. It includes the popular Sir Duke with its jaunty horns, a tribute to Duke Ellington, and the oft-performed Isn't she Lovely, among others.
