Scorpions 50th Birthday: remastered Tokyo Tapes In 2015, Scorpions celebrates its 50th anniversary. To celebrate the band's birthday, they are therefore coming up with something very special for their fans: the "50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition". In this edition, Scorpions re-release a number of different studio and live albums. In addition, the band has pulled a number of previously unreleased tracks from their archives, including rare live recordings, alternate versions of their songs and rough mixes. The band's first live album "Tokyo Tapes" is also being released in a remastered version. The original album was released in Europe in 1978. A year later it was released in the USA. The recordings were made on April 24 and 27, 1978 at Sun Plaza Hall in Tokyo, Japan. The shows were part of the legendary "Taken By Force" tour - the last series of concerts the Scorpions played with their then-guitarist Uli Jon Roth before his departure from the band. For the "50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition" the recordings have been completely re-mastered and are now being released as a double CD and also as a complete set consisting of a double LP and a double CD. In addition to the 18 original songs on the album, the second CD includes previously unreleased live recordings of "Polar Nights", "Hell Cat", "Catch Your Train", "He's A Woman, She's A Man", "Robot Man" and the Japanese anthem "Kimi Ga Yo". The new deluxe edition of the CD also includes a 16-page booklet with new liner notes by Edgar Klüsener, former editor-in-chief of Metal Hammer magazine. Scorpions have been on the scene for 50 years. Now they show how they started with "Tokyo Tapes", a remastered version of their legendary first live album. In addition to "Tokyo Tapes", the anniversary series also includes "World Wide Live", "Taken By Force", "Lovedrive", "Animal Magnetism", "Blackout", "Love At First Sting" and "Savage Amusement". In addition, all albums will be released together in a limited "Vinyl Box".
