Everything and more "Battering Ram" - Saxon couldn't have found a more fitting title for their new album. The band's eleven tracks feel like a battering ram. Less rock'n'roll, but a lot more heavy metal - 36 years after their debut "Saxon", Saxon prove that they are still evolving and that they can sound even better. But Saxon fans needn't worry, because "Battering Ram" is still pure Saxon: NWOBHM sound as they did in 1979, as they always did on their last album "Sacrifice" from 2013. Only this time, the band decided to go even harder. According to Saxon, they just wanted to focus on one style and not experiment. Anyway, thanks to old friend Andy Sneap, nothing was lost. The producer, who has worked for Machine Head, Megadeth and Exodus, has been behind the director's desk several times at Saxon's Backstage studio in rural Derbyshire. As a first taste of the album, the quintet released the title track on October 16, 2015 - the perfect album opener, as it clearly shows what listeners can expect from "Battering Ram": uncompromising lyrics, "crushing" guitars and punchy drums - in short, unrivalled heavy metal.
