"Ram Jam" is the first studio album by the New York rock band Ram Jam. The band consisted of Bill Bartlett (guitar), Howie Arthur Blauvelt (bass), Pete Charles (drums) and Myke Scavone (vocals). Bartlett was formerly the guitarist for the psychedelic bubblegum group the Lemon Pipers, best known for their 1960s hit "The Green Tambourine", while Blauvelt played with Billy Joel in various bands. "Black Betty," a reimagined hit by Ram Jam, was written by none other than Huddie Ledbetter, better known as Leadbelly. It's a pleasant trivia about the popular music of 1977 that the most compelling and stupidest record of the summer was written by the late black blues genius.
